The Te Kupengae  Stone Symposium was set in our Sun Drenched city of New Plymouth, perhaps it's paradise, we locals think so, and our visitors were absolutely convinced of it.

The Foreshore and walkway so popular with visitors and locals alike featured a buzzing few weeks of Sculptures being cut from raw Taranaki stone, revealing the astonishing creativity of the craftspeople both national and international who were able to make these stones literally mould beneath their touch.

The Beginning-East End Beach

All carving was done at East end Beach domain situated on the Coastal Walkway and was a hive of activity as the carvings were coming together, public interaction was encouraged, upon completion the carvings were moved to the Foreshore for public auction...

East End Beach is a popular area for Windsurfing as captured on camera by Donna Parks meanwhile the Stone sculptures were busily being created.
