Once upon a time,
the New Plymouth foreshore looked like
the above image,
for years the city abandoned the sea,
there was little
else but Trains and tracks and a railway Station:.
however there has now been
a
paradigm shift.

New Plymouth
has become forward thinking and the city is now connecting from the city to the sea, filling the province with a new found vibrancy.

.

Our Coastal Walkway
Stretches for 8km along the city coastline, and features our most wonderful millenium Icon 'The Windwand'  The walkway is a favoured place for walkers, rollerbladers, cyclists and runners, and lets not forget the dogs - is a photographers paradise as sun sets and the sky lights up with the most wonderful pinks and reds.

The sun smiled on the 28th January 2006 as the Stone Symposium auction took place at the New Plymouth Forshore, and Stone Carvings sold for between $700 and $7000.

There was not a breath of wind as evening wore on and hundreds were out to take advantage of the gorgeous weather - later on many were witnessing the waves crashing over the sea walls and under the pier at high tide.

Is this paradise,  we all think so .......

Just a few minutes walk from the foreshore and you are in the heart of the city, take advantage of the great selection of Cafe's and Bars, or walk on up to Pukekura Park. If you are in a museum mood, visti Puke Ariki Museum right on the foreshore, this wonderful Museum is our new addition to the foreshore, the visitor's centre is situated in Puke Ariki so if you are requiring information - just ask away.

Govett Brewster Art Gallery, close to the foreshore

As the sun sets on yet another sunny summer evening in Taranaki we are all thinking 'if only every day was like today and could be frozen in time'  Lila Smith.
