’CRUISE ON IN TO ‘SAMURAI COUNTRY’
 

Taranaki In 2003 was  host to the Warner’s bros Movie  ‘The Last Samurai’
and famous guest Mr Tom Cruise.

The time was exciting for one and all.

The Samurai Village built for the set of  The Last Samurai being filmed in Taranaki with Our Mighty Mountain as a stand in for Mt Fuji,  we are proud to entertain the cast and crew in our Magnificent province this summer as with them comes  the name of  ‘Nakiwood’ as seen on posters entering the province.

Jenny was ‘snapped’ with her owner Kevin Lobb of Tongaporutu, she was chewing away contently with a bit of grass happy that she had ‘tried out for the Last Samurai Movie in town.

Also enjoying a day on the famous Mokau River Cruise boat are Bruce Legal and Elaine ward from our own town of Opunake,  we have 2 mokau cruise boats and this one is 89 Years old.

What a life eh, perched alongside the riverbank soaking up the Taranaki sunshine, life aint half bad on the Mokau River Cruises, neat lunch supplied if required and I recommend the scones, wholeheartedly

Introducing Lyn & Bill Watson, farmers from Tikorangi, Taranaki. Mr& Mrs Watson were enjoying a few days  relaxation out in Tongaporutu and were visiting the White Cliffs walkway, they popped into Parani and Russell Gibbs farm stay for coffee and a chat, really lovely to meet you Lyn and Bill.

This bank on the side of the road leading to the White Cliffs Walkway, in Tongaporutu when traversed the dark of the night gleams in spots with Glow-worms, a magical night to behold.

Here is a typical character to greet you at Mokau, that friendly grin, that golden summer tan, Geoff has the Mokau Ceramic Studio, but more than that Geoff also has the most amazing collection of Driftwood, and natural arts and crafts, made out of nature, call in, I recommend it.

Believe it or believe it not, only in Mokau could you find this interesting garden and this also belongs to Geoff from the Mokau Ceramic Studio, I simply had to get a shot of this garden, a lot of it collected off the beaches, you will see it driving through Mokau.

Sue and John Proffitt accompanied by their daughters Tiffany & Kate and granddaughter Adarra were all snapped heading into the Taranaki province on holiday. Note the stunning Mokau backdrop of where New Zealand meets the Tasman Sea.

The Mokau river estuary is pure magic, and standing in front of the view is Barbara & Owen August from Christchurch New Zealand, the August’s are traveling by caravan, what better way to see the magic of New Zealand and all its tucked away areas like the White Cliffs Walkway, and the Te Horo Stock Tunnel , just a couple of Taranaki’s hidden secrets.

Oops, look who has popped into sight Two Taranaki teenagers Daisy Capon & Jamie Ward, what a life these teenagers have living in paradise, hi again girls from Lila and Parani, the girls were snapped at the famous ‘Whitebait’ Inn, Mokau.

All the way from Winnipeg, Canada caught outside the Whitebait Inn, is Louise and Bruce Hembroff,  Louise and Bruce were heading into New Plymouth, really nice to have met you, hope you tell all the folks in Winnipeg about Taranaki and New Zealand.
