A
rich
and fascinating history creates a colourful culture
in Taranaki. Arrays of talented artists and crafts people dot the
communities of Taranaki. Unique forms of creative interpretations
are available to all – something for everyone. From crafts people
creating made to order furniture from recycled native New Zealand
timbers, to indigenous Maori art and craft. Pottery, caneware, wrought
iron, woodcraft, prints, stained glass, jewellery, ceramics - all
crafted and inspired by Taranaki people. Visit of our historical
sites and museums, walk the heritage trails and walkways, bathe in
warm geothermal water at historical bathes, breathe
in the experience and form your own unique understanding of our
culture. From displays of old militaria, vehicles and farm machinery
of days gone by at Atiawa Museum or the Museum of Transport, Aviation
and Technology to historical Koru Pa, Tawhiti Museum or our own
Taranaki Museum. A selection of historical sites, cultural displays,
art galleries or craft studios for your Taranaki experience.
